1. Sweet location

“Zayo is headquartered right in the heart of beautiful Boulder on the upstairs suite of 29th Street Mall. From the open office space which encourages collaboration, to our gorgeous views of the Flatirons, to easy access to shops and restaurants below us, Zayo boasts the best location. Being close to Downtown, we are surrounded by an active entrepreneurial ecosystem, which we are very connected to and involved with! Also, being in such an active community, a couple times a month we have Zayo Group fitness events, where we have the opportunity to leave early on a Friday to go hiking or do Crossfit/kickboxing/rock climbing with our co-workers.” - Lauren Knight, Zayo Group

2. Waffles & Post-Its

“Waffle breakfasts are made by different employees at the office each Thursday with a surprise ingredient selected from the ‘waffle topper tracker’ (everything from green chili to fried chicken to champagne butter to cookie dough).” What else to love about Mapquest’s company culture? In addition to a nap room (yes, a nap room), Mapquest’s office also boasts a stocked tiki bar and a “jam room” with various musical instruments. To keep up the fun spirit, the team also has Post-It artwork wars with their neighbors on the third floor (pictured). - Jennifer Asbury, Mapquest

3. 100 percent employer-paid medical, dental and vision benefits for employees & their families

“Our CEO believes life should be categorized in the following order: Health, Family, Work.  If something is out of order then we need to take a step back and re-evaluate .Have you ever heard a CEO say that?  I consider ReadyTalkers extremely lucky to have the CEO support this vision.” - Katie Green, ReadyTalk

4. Getting crafty

“We make our own desks in our shop next door and have a giant lego board where we model out our approach to problem solving (pictured). Our best perk is being part of a team focused on creating better ways of doing important things. Things like fixing an airplane at the gate. Or monitoring the world’s blood supply. Or, literally, putting out a four-alarm fire. We also get free Pop Chips.” -  David Maren, EffectiveUI

5. 401K match

“We feel that our employees are our best asset, and providing them long term benefits and financial security is key to ensuring our success as an agency. From a cultural perspective, we truly embrace the ‘work hard, play hard’ mantra as evidenced by our sponsored events that include our annual company ski day at A-basin and annual company golf outing at Harvard Gulch Par 3.” - Joshua Allen, Location3

6. Company offsites

“Because we're distributed and people work from all over the world, once a year we come together for a ‘family reunion’ sort of event. Talk business, share meals together, play. It's the best. Our culture is unique because we really are a family - even though everyone is scattered throughout the world. We hire the best people, no matter where they are - we're craftsmen.” - Brianna Pade, Universal Mind

7. Volunteer work

“We have lots of fun perks like bike share, dogs in the office, light rail passes, gym membership, etc. as well as the big ones like health/accident/life insurance and 401k. But I think for a lot of our employees, the most important aspect of the job is that we give back to the community. We do one big pro bono project every year and lots of smaller humanitarian things like giving blood and contributing to the open source community. We vote on these pro bono projects as a team.” - Alexander Groth, FusionBox
