Ash Maurya is the author of the yet-to-be-released book Scaling Lean. He’ll be discussing how to focus your business on a single metric — traction. Apparently we all get bogged down spending our time and effort inefficiently, and Maurya has a way to fix that. Show up on time, as there will be a happy hour before he takes the stage.
Pitch Academy Colorado Springs Startup Week, October 7 at 1 p.m.
Didn’t get enough entrepreneurship at DSW? Well, this week is Colorado Springs Startup Week. At this event, participants will learn some best practices for making investor pitches. Think of it kind of like Toastmasters, only for startup pitches. It seems to work too. The organizers say that graduates of their program end up receiving funding at rates ten times the national average.

Speaking of startup pitches and Colorado Springs Startup Week, this event involves both. Participants will hear five minute pitches that will be followed by five minutes of audience feedback. Chances are, you’ll hear from someone who studied at the Pitch Academy event two nights earlier. There will be pizza and beer, so come hungry and sociable.
Ft. Collins Full Stack Immersive Open House, October 8 at 5:30 p.m.
Have you ever wondered what Galvanize’s 24-week Full Stack developer training program is like? This is your opportunity to see what it’s all about. The open house will include free drinks and appetizers, a chance to ask questions, and some time to look around. Want to learn to code but don’t know where to start? This introductory class will teach you all the fundamentals you’ll need to get started. You’ll leave with the fundamentals of HTML and a basic knowledge of how to use Git and Github. Bring your laptop and be prepared to dig right in.
