Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz once said, “The most powerful and enduring brands are built from the heart.”

In other words, behind every thriving company is a powerful mission that both greatly impacts its customers and inspires its team members to drive progress together.

This is something that two Colorado companies, Halter and Auror, can attest to. While the two organizations are guided by different purposes, they share a common goal: build a workplace that fuels success.

At Halter, this approach is all about speed. In order to achieve its mission to “unlock more productive and sustainable farming,” the company prioritizes velocity as a defining feature of its culture, ensuring its teams possess the alignment needed to move as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, Auror puts fun at the forefront, as it strives to reduce the harm and impact of retail crime. Not only does a strong sense of engagement positively impact its customers, but it also makes team members eager to show up to work each day to drive progress and grow in the process.

Grounded in a passion for purpose, these two companies offer workplaces any job seeker would dream of — and each one is hiring! We caught up with team members at Halter and Auror to learn about their companies’ cultures and how they’ve been empowered to grow.

Talent Acquisition Lead • Halter

Guided by the mission to “unlock more productive and sustainable farming,” Halter’s solar-powered collars enable farmers to remotely shift, virtually fence and monitor livestock.

Describe Halter’s culture in one word.

Fast-paced. Halter operates at max velocity. Moving as fast as possible allows us to learn more quickly, discover risks earlier and, ultimately, outpace our competition. Aligned through clear direction and context, we act rapidly yet precisely. We recognise velocity as the key to Halter’s continued success.

Halter entered Tasmania exactly 24 months ago. We now have 18.2 percent market share of the entire state’s dairy herd. We’re hoping to make the same impact in the ranching industry in the United States.

What opportunities have you had to grow professionally during your time at Halter so far?

I helped hire 70 people for our talent team in just three months in 2021. It was great for my career development, as I learned how to hire at scale and as quickly as possible without jeopardizing quality. This has helped us prepare for our launch in the United States and for further expansion across our team here in New Zealand.

Senior Retail Partnership Manager • Auror

Auror’s AI-powered platform helps retailers prevent crime, reduce loss and make stores safer.

Describe Auror’s culture in one word.

The word I would choose to describe our company culture would be “fun.” Our team puts a strong emphasis on making sure that fun is an integral part of everything we do. Whether it’s a team event, a trade show or an interaction with a customer, there’s always an effort to create a lively and enjoyable atmosphere. This not only keeps morale high, but also reflects positively in our relationships with clients.

A great example of this is how we approach trade shows. Instead of just focusing on the business aspects, we make a conscious effort to bring fun and energy to the event. The feedback we often receive from customers is, “The Auror team is always having so much fun!” This approach not only enhances the experience, but also strengthens connections with our clients, making them feel like they’re a part of something enjoyable and engaging.

“Fun is an integral part of everything we do.”

How long have you been with Auror, and what professional growth have you seen in that time?

I’ve been with the company for just over one year now. During that time, I’ve experienced strong development in how I tell a compelling story. It’s a skill I’ve honed throughout my career, but with Auror, it has been brought to the next level.

We take all the rich data and insights our platform captures and build that into supporting slide decks that share a narrative, which not only enhances our customer interactions, but helps our customers communicate more effectively with stakeholders across their businesses. A key part of this growth has come from the collaboration and skill-sharing within our team. Internal partners have been instrumental in helping me level up, sharing expertise and insights that have enriched my professional development.
