Boulder-based Respondology announced it secured an additional $5 million in Series A-1 funding, bringing its total Series A raise to $11 million.

Respondology provides two flagship products. The first is Moderate, a platform that protects brand social media channels from spam and abuse. Its second product, Discover, offers data insights by analyzing comment trends and sentiment.

“We backed Respondology again because they’re solving a real and growing problem for brands and using advanced AI to tackle it. There’s no question that comment sections have become a critical part of how companies connect with their audiences — and in many cases, a liability. Reducing toxic noise, abuse and spam creates safer online spaces and protects brand value,” Dan Geballe, managing director at investor SJF Ventures, said in a statement.

According to Respondology, its technology is becoming increasingly popular as social media companies scale back their hate speech policies. In turn, brands and companies are taking proactive steps to keep their channels safe. The company currently works with hundreds of sports, entertainment, consumer goods and marketing companies.

With the new funding, Respondology will accelerate product development for its two platforms and expand its team to meet market demand.
