Director, Risk Management

The Director, Risk Management has primary responsibility for ensuring adequate insurance coverage for Strive Health’s organizational exposures, as well as development and implementation of Strive Health’s risk management program. The Director, Risk Management supervises and coordinates risk management activities, including risk identification and assessment; risk prevention; and claims management.

Essential Functions

  • Identifies and analyzes existing and emerging risks to Strive Health.
  • Conducts risks assessments, collecting and analyzing documentation, statistics, reports and market trends.
  • Develops goals and objectives for risk management in keeping with Strive Health policy and mission.
  • Develops and maintains Strive Health’s risk management program.
  • Evaluates insurance coverage and determines appropriate limits and retention, and oversees renewal of insurance policies and programs.
  • Working with Strive Health’s legal team, directs and oversees management of claims against Strive Health for insured risks.
  • Manages insurance claims filings on all insurance policies.
  • Engages and manages key insurance industry relationships, including brokers, underwriters, consultants, etc.
  • Drafts insurance requirements for various contractual engagements; maintains database of insurance requirements templates; oversees Certificate of Insurance program and requests certificates from vendors and independent contractors as needed.
  • Communicates risk management objectives and results to all levels of Strive Health.
  • Leads organization in Enterprise Risk Management assessments and analysis.
  • Works with risk owners on deep dives including sub-risks, mitigation, and metrics.
  • Works with clinical quality, compliance, legal, and others to coordinate efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; Master's degree or Legal degree preferred.
  • 8+ years experience in risk management, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • 5+ years experience as an insurance Manager, property/casualty analyst or underwriter, insurance broker or other related position in the property/casualty industry.
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), or related professional designations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise with managing insurance brokers.
  • Development and maintenance of various size, types and structures of insurance programs. Claims expertise – technical skills of various claims management techniques.
  • Ability to write and review insurance language for various types of contracts.
  • Experience with Performance Improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrates a clear working knowledge of healthcare regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to develop critical insights and make strategic recommendations based on relevant metrics.
  • Keen financial acumen and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Orientation towards pragmatic, creative solutions and problem solving.
  • Superior judgment and high-level analytic, communication, judgment, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.

Annual Salary Range: $130,000.00-$163,000.00
