Position Description: Caliola's Embedded Linux Engineers are integral across our portfolio of radio and networking projects. Your work will impact the design and maturation of our systems deployed on various embedded and real-time platforms. As an embedded engineer, you will be responsible for the implementation of algorithms and software at the interface of hardware platforms with an eye towards real-time and high-performance code. You will work closely with cross-disciplinary teams of system engineers, algorithm developers, and software developers to solve important and challenging problems. A solid understanding of compute platforms, embedded systems, and an excellent work ethic are required to be successful in this position.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Define, implement, and integrate software in embedded Linux targets.
- Contribute code which is critical to programs' success.
- Support benchtop and field testing of embedded platforms.
- Identify ways to increase performance of software on specific platforms.
- Lead/Participate in scrum processes including user story creation.
What We Require:
- MS OR BS with 3 years' experience in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Fluency in C and familiarity with C++.
- Experience deploying and integrating open-source software across multiple hosts.
- Experience with debugging and development on an ARM-based SOC.
- Maintain boot loader and kernel source trees (e.g., Kbuild, U-Boot, Linux, FreeRTOS)
- Experience with communication interfaces such as UART, I2C, CAN, and Ethernet
- Kernel module development for custom hardware interfaces.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. Government. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens. In addition, applicants who accept a conditional offer of employment may be subject to government security investigation(s) and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
What We Value:
- Understanding of Linux networking stack (Berkeley sockets, routing tables)
- Fluency in Python (3.10+) and C++(11/17).
- Shell scripting.
- Experience with Zynq.
- Experience interfacing with FPGAs.
- Active security clearance.
