Job Description SummaryWe are currently recruiting for an experienced Employee Relations Leader - UK who can demonstrate accountability for developing and executing union and employee relations strategies that align to both the UK business and broader company objectives.
In this role you will be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of GE Aerospace’s UK Employee Relations strategy across all UK locations - Scotland, Wales, Cheltenham and Brockworth (approx 5600 employees), working closely with the Employee Relations Leader for Europe and UK HR leaders for GE Aerospace.
The role will act as a key point of contact for the UK business leadership team on employee relations matters and will provide advisory support for people leaders and HR managers across the UK business
This position can be fully remote, though it would be beneficial to live within an easy commute to one of our UK sites.
There is a requirement to travel approx 20% of the time to each UK site (as required) and travel 2/3 times per year to Europe and the USA.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Union Relations strategies / plans as they integrate with Company / business goals.
  • Provide strategic and practical hands on support to the Leadership and HR team across the UK for all matters linked to union and employee relations including pay negotiations and other contractual change, variations to collective bargaining agreements and collective consultation and M&A work as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain a strong partnership internally with key business and HR stakeholders in addition to maintaining strong relationships with our recognised trade union representatives and external officials, ER professionals and other industrial relations service providers.
  • As appropriate, represent the Company in Employee Relations matters with unions and employee representatives at the UK Aerospace sites.
  • Provide advice and counsel to leadership and Human Resources on Union policies, practices and procedures.
  • Actively co-ordinate and lead GE Aerospace’s UK Information and Consultation Forum (I&C Forum), establish key relationships and partner with business leaders to maintain successful working relationships and engagement across the business.
  • Ensuring Employee relations strategy for the UK business is clearly and regularly communicated to employees and business stakeholders.
  • Undertake employee climate assessments across the UK and partner with the business and HR communities to drive engagement strategy to maintain strong employee relations culture and focus.
  • Conduct project work supporting employee relations activities as needed.
  • Advice, guidance and hands on support for dispute management and industrial action.
  • Conduct investigations into alleged violations of code of conduct where required.
  • Provide oversight and advice to the HR team and management regarding employment-related risk on collective issues.
  • Interface with European /Global Employees Relations as required.
  • Understand and support any projects aligned to our pensions and benefits strategy in the UK.
  • Support the triage for investigations in partnership with the Compliance Leader determining the appropriate investigation protocol based on the nature of the concerns being raised.
  • As required, liaise with non-Aerospace businesses in the UK through engagement with the UK HR Council and Simplification Council.
  • Ensuring ER training is delivered for HR generalists and People leaders  in the UK

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
  • Significant Employee Relations experience (including negotiations, collective consultation and dispute management) gained in a highly regulated manufacuring MNC.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Able to make decisions quickly under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate complex messages to others.
  • Strongly desired: management of I&C Forums.
  • Well rounded knowledge of employment law and the legal landscape
  • Strong union relations experience.
