Summary:
MediaNews Group is seeking a financial reporting manager to join our team! The Financial Reporting Manager will be responsible for the financial reporting process, including preparation of GAAP consolidated financial statements and quarterly reports to the board and other stakeholders for both MediaNews Group and Tribune Publishing, which are private companies and not SEC filers. This includes financial statement analysis, preparation of schedules to support footnotes and technical accounting research.
What you will do:
- Monthly reporting to board and other stakeholders
- Quarterly reporting to board and other stakeholders, including debt covenant calculations
- Annual reporting for audited financial statements, including debt covenant calculations
- Involvement in quarterly and annual control processes, including calls and review of representations made by field locations
- Technical accounting research and documentation
- Update and, as necessary, create GAAP accounting policies
- Review balance sheet reconciliations and consolidation schedules
- Analysis of location financial statements (income statement and balance sheet), identifying potential accounting errors, and following up with the property as needed to ensure all issues are addressed
- Help develop and maintain accounting policies and lead projects, such as implementation of changes in accounting standards
- Involved with peer review analysis, Ad-Hoc projects and external audits.
What you will bring:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting plus 3-5 years of public accounting or financial reporting experience
- CPA certification required
- GAAP financial statement preparation, including disclosures or attestation experience with a public accounting firm
- Technical accounting research and cash flow reporting experience
- Assistance with annual external financial statement audit, either on the auditor or client side
- Financial statement review and experience with multi-location environments and intercompany accounting
- Analytical, judgment and decision-making skills with the ability to adapt to change
- Strong Excel skills and experience with planning and forecasting software (Oracle EPM or similar system)
- Ability to research and resolve issues and to present financial information in a logical manner
- Strong communications skills to work with executive team and media locations
The annual salary range is $105,000 - $110,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, and a 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
