The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, developmental planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape future space missions across the national security space enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including United States Space Force, United States Space Command, Air Force Material Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers but also horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation.
This Network Operations Specialist IV position provides leadership and network support to the Space Security and Defense Program (SSDP). This fast-paced organization is developing the next generation of capabilities to protect and defend US space systems in a multi-level classification environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with interagency, military, and civilian communities. As an integral member of the team this individual is responsible for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Aerospace's resources on a classified government network to ensure optimal performance and timely analysis by engineers.
Work Model
Due to the classified nature of this position and vital on-site actions, this position is not open to tele-commuting or remote work. This position is located in Colorado Springs, CO.
What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing systems administration and IT support on classified virtual computer networks
  • Work with the government team to organize, install, configure and support the organization's computer systems. This includes local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems.
  • Architect, design and analyze network models.
  • Provide support to computer users to help tackle problems
  • Support activities within Special Access Programs (SAPs) supporting Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, such as HQ Air Force, Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and Military Compartment's efforts.
  • Provide "day-to-day" support for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Program (SAP) activities
  • Work closely with government network owners to ensure compliance with processes and standards
  • Determine installation requirements for implementation in the User environment
  • Use network management tools to monitor performance of network
  • Perform troubleshooting and problem resolution of network issues
  • Analyze and resolve network compatibility issues
  • Develop and maintain documentation


What You'll Need to Be Successful - Network Tech Specialist IV
Minimum Requirements:

  • 7-9 years' of demonstrable experience with a high school degree, 5-7 years' experience with an Associates degree, and 3-5 years' of demonstrable experience with a Bachelors degree
  • Security+ Certification
  • Customer service perspective
  • Self-starter and independent learner with strong desire to help others
  • Ability to collaborate well within a team with other government employees, FFRDC, and SETA staff
  • This position requires, current TS/SCI clearance and the ability and willingness to obtain SAP/SAR accesses, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • Advanced technical proficiency in one or more of the following supported platforms:
    • MS Hyper-V/VMWare/ESx/Xen Hypervisors, Microsoft Windows Server and Windows Server 2012r2/2016, Enterprise networking/firewalls/intrusion detection/prevention systems, forensic analysis/vulnerability assessment
    • Group Policy management and configuration, Scripting, BMC Footprints, WSUS, Lumension, Bitlocker, SQL Server 2012, TomCat, IIS, Win 10, Toolkits, SEIM, Logrhythm, ACAS/Nessus/SCAP, mandatory/role-based access control concepts, SE Linux extensions to RHE, Oracle/MS SQL database security, Apache/IIS Web server security
    • Experience in Linux systems administration, including configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security hardening for an enterprise environment


How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of the following:

  • CASP or CISSP
  • Cisco CCNA Certification
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • 5 years' experience supporting an enterprise Linux environment including configuration and management access to NFS file system shares and Active Directory or other access control service integration with RHEL/Cent OS
  • Ability to communicate clearly with network users, management, and government customers
  • Current SAP/SAR accesses
  • Ability to anticipate needs

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
