As a Portfolio Manager, you draw on your ability to make quality decisions and build effective teams to manage a key sales or operations sub-unit or a support sub-function that provides specialized services to the sector. You are responsible for overseeing your unit’s service offer, developing and implementing its action plan, and overseeing activities supporting your executive division’s business plan. You draw on your ability to develop talent and drive results to effectively manage people and performance, produce reports and ensure member/client satisfaction. More specifically, you will be required to:

Work with the the business strategy and architecture teams to help the P&C insurance management committee determine its positioning on investment principles and priorities over a horizon of 5–10 years, based on the challenges facing the P&C insurance industry and Desjardins Group’s strategic directions.

Implement 360° portfolio management in the P&C insurance sector, based on best practices.

Implement a roadmap for optimizing portfolio management practices, in conjunction with the Project Management Office and the Portfolio Team: collaborate with the Desjardins Group Project Management Office to ensure the development of tools; represent the sector regarding the replacement of the OPMI platform with an integrated portfolio management solution; and implement the value tracking process, in accordance with Desjardins Group’s new portfolio management practices.

Work with the business architecture team to play a leadership role in macro-allocation by ensuring decisions are consistent and aligned with strategic goals.

Ensure dynamic management of investments based on changing conditions for success and delivered value, in addition to changes in the internal and external environment, in order to engage in structured performance dialogue with all stakeholders, including the management committee, promoters, architects and project teams.

Improve project control practices by drawing on Desjardins Group’s communities of practice.

Develop the portfolio management team and help sharpen its skills by establishing management and communication practices that support change management, talent attraction and retention, skills development and employee engagement and diversity, in keeping with Desjardins’s values.

What you bring to the table

Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field in finance or accounting

A minimum of nine years of relevant experience

Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

Experience in portfolio and/or project management

Experience in the financial services sector (banking, wealth management or insurance)

Knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec

Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients

Knowledge of recognized portfolio management methodology
