This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project manage & coordinate GSE development from initial requirements, through design reviews, build & validation, and delivery / first use. This will include managing design & build projects that are executed internally and/or outsourcing to suppliers.

  • Author and review requirements documents, statements of work (SOWs), operation and maintenance (O&Ms) manuals, acceptance and test procedures (ATP), and requirement verification documentation

  • Identify operational needs and translate them into requirements for custom support hardware

  • Support the test team in integrated vehicle testing, and closeout operations.

  • Support the launch site and launch team through spacecraft loading and launch

  • Support the development of the concept of operations to facilitate efficient and safe processing of flight hardware

  • Lead and provide floor support for procedure execution that utilizes Ground Support Equipment (GSE) or Tooling. This will include collaboration between other engineers, technicians, and operators, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and typically 3 or more years of relevant experience 

  • Experience with project management techniques; schedule, cost, contract management, etc. 

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools, preferred is SOLIDWORKS or NX 

  • Operational or hands-on experience in fast-paced dynamic production or operations environment  

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. 

  • Knowledge of industry-standard design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material & component selection, fabrication, manufacturing, and production processes. 

  • History with authoring and/or executing written work instructions for building, testing, repairing, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting critical equipment 

  • Experience designing, testing, or operating ground support equipment (GSE) / Tooling 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with spacecraft/payload operations, small/cube Sats, integration, manufacturing, or test environment working on electrical, fluid and/or mechanical systems.  

  • Experience with performing component and assembly level stress analysis and reporting results  

  • Experience with creation and releasing of; weldments and/or machined drawings, top level assemblies, P&IDs, electrical schematics, or similar design deliverables. 

  • Working knowledge of ASME and Government standards 

  • Background in the Aerospace & Defense Industry; manufacturing, regulatory & certification requirements, etc. 

  • Prior experience applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5  

  • Experience with use or operation of heavy equipment and cranes 

  • Experience with spacecraft or aircraft operations 

  • Cleanroom operations and requirements, ESD, FOD 

  • Project management/scheduling working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook, VISIO, MS Project), EVM, KPIs, QBDs 

  • Experience with non-conformances (NCs) and PLM software. 

Compensation:

 

Pay Range: 

$88,495 - $121,687.50

 

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.  

Additional Requirements:

  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps

  • Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity

  • Rarely lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • Rarely exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.)

  • Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials

  • Rarely exposed to loud noises
