This is a U.S. based remote position. While this role does not require in-person attendance, we have a strong preference for candidates based in or near one of these cities: San Francisco CA, Portland OR, Seattle WA, Denver CO, and New York NY. Being in one of these cities creates opportunities to connect with teammates through Trail Days, co-working sessions, and local gatherings while still having the flexibility to work remotely. San Francisco employees are highly encouraged to come to the office one day per week. 

 
 

About the role

Reporting to the Manager, People & Talent Operations, this role will help build the infrastructure that supports the employee experience at AllTrails.

As our People Operations Analyst, you’ll own and improve key People systems and processes across HRIS administration, compensation, analytics, data integrity, and cyclical People programs. This role is strongest for someone who has worked on a People Ops team before, brings strong systems and analytical skills, and has the judgment and follow-through to keep high-volume operational work accurate and moving.

What you’ll be doing

  • Own day-to-day administration, maintenance, and optimization of People systems, with a focus on HRIS health, automation, workflow reliability, permissions, documentation, and data accuracy

  • Evaluate and apply AI tools within the existing tech stack where appropriate, and recommend new solutions to streamline People Operations workflows, reduce manual work, and improve quality

  • Maintain our compensation structure through benchmarking, performing audits, reconciliations, data validation, and performance cycle readiness; partner with the Chief People Officer on compensation philosophy, strategy and design

  • Build and maintain recurring audits and controls across employee and contractor data, system fields, and downstream integrations to ensure information is accurate, compliant, and working as expected

  • Partner closely with Accounting, Finance, Recruiting, IT, and other cross-functional stakeholders to support clean handoffs, accurate people data, and reliable operational workflows

  • Run and support recurring People Operations deliverables such as performance review administration, engagement survey operations, reporting support, and related collateral

  • Produce clear reporting and analyses for People leaders, especially in areas related to compensation, headcount, and workforce data

  • Troubleshoot system and workflow issues, identify root causes, and proactively recommend fixes or process improvements

  • Support operational projects and process improvements with strong organization, documentation, follow-through, and attention to detail

What you bring

  • 4+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Operations, Compensation, HRIS, or a closely related function

  • You thrive on a People Operations team that is fast-moving, lean environment

  • Strong hands-on experience administering HR systems and managing + optimizing workflows, data quality, system configuration, integrations, and data mapping, with a clear understanding of system design best practices

  • Excitement and experience applying AI to increase velocity, work quality and the employee experience

  • Advanced analytical skills, including strong command of formulas and comfort working with large data sets in complex Google Sheets or Excel models

  • Strong attention to detail and obsession with data structure and data hygiene

  • Strong, proactive problem-solving skills, with the ability to spot issues, investigate root causes, and improve process reliability

  • Solid project management and organization skills, with the ability to manage recurring deliverables and follow through across multiple stakeholders

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative working style

Bonus points

  • Experience with Rippling, Lattice or a similar modern HRIS tools

  • Experience supporting contractor onboarding, offboarding, and workflow management
