Project Engineer II

The position

Hottinger Bruel & Kjaer Solutions LLC is looking for a talented Project Engineer to join our fast-growing team. We combine our expertise in data analytics, in reliability, durability, advanced modeling, and software engineering to provide Asset Performance Management Solutions. We are looking for a high caliber individual with a passion for solving engineering problems by using engineering principles, data analytics, and computer programming.  The role is focused on improving reliability and availability of our customer assets (vehicles, aircrafts, machines etc.), delivering actionable information and providing solutions to customer problems.  The project engineer will use both internal and external software tools to perform the analysis work.  If you are eager to demonstrate your potential, solve problems for world-class customers in multiple industries and work with a team of subject matter experts, data scientists and software engineers, we would like to hear from you. 

Primary responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Analysis of asset data (usage, failures, maintenance, test, cost, etc.) using engineering, mathematics, statistics, etc. for design, operations and maintenance
  • Gather and validate data from multiple data sources (Extract Transform and Load), to complete analyses on component and system reliability and degradation
  • Support efforts to improve data collection and databases for effective and efficient data analysis (both discrete and operational data)
  • Develop analysis scripts and/or algorithms using relevant programming languages
  • Interpret results to draw conclusions and provide recommendations
  • Prepare reports/presentations for project deliverables and internal documentation
  • Apply methodologies associated with reliability and/or durability to solve customer problems
  • Work collaboratively with customers, and internal teams for RFQs, RFPs, and customer presentations
  • Other duties as needed

Professional qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience:
    • Industrial data, data modelling, data queries
    • And reliability, maintenance and/or durability a plus
  • Experience with the following technologies or equivalent;
    • Databases (e.g. RDS(s), MS SQL, PostgreSQL)
    • SQL queries, Python Scripting, PowerBI/Tableau
    • AWS Cloud stack (S3, Glue, Athena)
    • Project management and Version Control software (GitLab)
  • Experience related to software development and computer programming a plus
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Willingness to learn new technologies
