What we do

Protecting one’s network is one of the key outcomes of actionable Infrastructure Observability. If it’s any indication, a vast majority of Kentik’s customers trust us to help protect their network. With that in mind, Kentik is seeking a talented and passionate Senior/Staff Product Manager to join our team and support our DDoS Protection Product Line, as well as our Alerting product.
Joining as the leading Product Manager for Infrastructure Security you will be driving all future evolutions of the platform that leverage Kentik’s best-in-class Infrastructure Observability to protect our customers’ networks.
In this position, you will work in close partnership with our field teams, product marketing teams and engineering teams to evaluate the market, understand our customers’ pain points, design products to answer their needs and take them to market.

What you'll do

  • Play an active role alongside with our Sales, Field Engineering and Support teams to drive growth and retention for Kentik’s DDoS prevention/protection/mitigation product line
  • Be the market expert and Internal Champion on DDoS Detection, Protection, Scrubbing: gather intel on market trends, competitor portfolios and technologies to fuel your product evolutions, as well as support Product Marketing’s pitch
  • Be Kentik’s customers’ voice for requirements associated to DDoS Detection & Protection, define the associated roadmap for the platform to support these, work with our Engineering Team to deliver them and Product Marketing to bring them to market
  • Oversee Kentik’s DDoS Detection and Protection Roadmap for both Enterprise and Service Providers, partner with engineering to deliver it, and provide support to ensure company readiness to sell and support these features
  • Evangelize, train, document internally and externally for use cases, market segments and point features as well as the mid & long term vision for our Infrastructure Security portfolio
  • Facilitate and maintain a high level of transparency and alignment within the company on short/mid/long term vision and feature release schedules
  • Own adoption metrics around your portfolio and pull from them extensively for analytical product decision making and adoption tracking

  • 5+ years experience of Product Management or Engineering in one or more of these areas: Infrastructure Security, DDoS detection, prevention and protection
  • You have practitioner-level knowledge of standard networking technologies: TCP/IP, Routing, BGP, SNMP, Streaming Telemetry, Network Flow Monitoring
  • Hands-on knowledge of both Network-based security at scale such as: Remote Triggered Black-holing, BGP Flowspec and the homegrown solutions out there built upon these
  • You are tuned into the Infrastructure Security ecosystem: appliance-based DDoS detection and protection, in-house and cloud scrubbing services
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and are skilled at presenting ideas to technical and non-technical crowds
  • Strong collaboration skills - you will need to communicate effectively with and orchestrate many other functions within the organization
  • Well versed in the Engineering and Operational best practices at for both Service Provider and Enterprise networks, and are able to navigate their specificities
  • You don't only craft products, you deliver the accompanying vision and strive to deliver a compact yet clearly defined message around it to both customers and partners within the company
  • Ability to drive project independently - our staff is geographically distributed, and our employees need to be able to map out steps towards a successful future target
  • Creative and curious mindset - you exhibit constant technical curiosity and strive to rope your collaborators into the crafting process
  • Analytical mindset: whether it is SQL or Product Analytics, you back your assumptions and assess risks with numbers

Nice to haves:

  • Familiar with the ITOPs ecosystem (ticketing, incident management, chatops…) - whether it is best practices or vendors in this quadrant
  • Successful field experience of managing or partnering with infrastructure security suppliers such as DDoS detection, protection, scrubbing and clean pipes services
  • Experience with newer infrastructure SaaS products such as NDR and SASE
  • Insights on where AI and ML meet Infrastructure Security and the current and future resulting products
  • Practical or theoretical knowledge around Network Automation and Source of Truth platforms in the field
  • Prior experience with SaaS companies: their complexities, their scale, their pricing models
  • You have prior experience with Metrics platforms, Network Flow Monitoring (for a Network Equipment Vendor or Network Engineering/Operations Team) or Inter Domain Routing (Peering, Transit…).

Our compensation philosophy encompasses a fair program for all in order to attract, engage and retain talented individuals who will drive our business and wow our customers.

The compensation range for this position is: $185,000 - $255,000. This range reflects the low and high end of the U.S. compensation range Kentik reasonably and generally expects to pay the hired candidate in this role. The actual compensation offered may be lower or higher than the stated range depending on various factors, including but not limited to:

  • Experience with the skill sets required for success
  • Demonstrated competencies and potential 
  • A geographic market-based approach
