We are 50+ employees strong with a people-first culture, and we’re looking to add a strong Staff Accountant to our team.
The Staff Accountant is an integral part of the team and will be responsible for day-to-day accounting activities. This position will work closely with the Director of Finance and CFO to deliver best-of-breed accounting policies and strategies. A successful candidate in this position will be highly analytical and an excellent communicator with outstanding interpersonal abilities.
Responsibilities
This role will be responsible for maintaining financial records and reports, perform account reconciliations, and assist with budget and closing processes. The Staff Accountant will help maintain the account receivable/payable schedule as well as support biweekly payroll activates.
- Assist in the preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Provides support related to budgeting and forecasting activities
- Reconciles bank accounts weekly, verifies deposits, and addresses related internal/external inquiries
- Manages cash disbursement / cash receipt schedules and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts
- Works with external partners to prepare biweekly payroll and is responsible for supporting the final review
- Assists with the company’s expense reporting activities, ensuring that all expenses are recorded accurately, receipts are verified, and any discrepancies are promptly addressed
- Regularly review and reconcile company credit card accounts, ensuring all transactions are coded appropriately – promptly addressing any inconsistencies or questionable transactions
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA or CPA eligibility a plus
- 0-3 years of relevant job experience; Tech and/or GovCon industry experience a plus
- High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
- Ability and willingness to work in a collaborative team environment
- Strong mathematical, accounting, and analytical skills, with demonstrated critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask and work in an organized, detailed manner
- Process-oriented with strong time management skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in accounting software and MS Office Suite, especially Excel
