We are seeking a Structural Engineer, Senior to support design and perform analysis for the creation of aerospace technologies. The Structural Engineer Senior is accountable for execution of structural dynamic and static analyses of spacecraft flight hardware as well as Mechanical Ground Support Equipment. The Structural Analyst will provide technical mentorship to junior engineers, influence processes, and help to create product architectures and development strategies. The Engineer will coordinate activities across functional groups, influencing and improving new and existing designs. Strong communication skills will be required to present results to our customers at various technical reviews.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop static and dynamic analyses of spacecraft flight hardware and mechanical ground support equipment.
- Participate with the mechanical design engineers on new designs, design trades, and existing designs, including improvement suggestions.
- Cooperate with a cross-functional team of engineers while working multiple space projects in a fast-paced, results driven environment.
- Assist in the preparation of test plans, including static, separation dynamics, vibration, modal and shock test execution.
- Help perform the environmental testing, post process results, and deliver post-test reports.
- Present analysis results to engineering teams, leadership, and customers.
- Participate in the definition of processes and the development of best practices for structural analysis of spacecraft.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years experience as a structural analyst.
- Proficiency in MATLAB and Python
- Understanding of structures and structural dynamics.
- Experience with structural static and dynamic methods.
- Experience in application of finite element analysis principles anchored with hand calculation methods.
- Exposure to FEMAP and NASTRAN preferred.
- Effective communication skills.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. security clearance.
