We are seeking a Technical Design Director to bring innovation and expertise to our signage implementation and design team. This role centers on leading the technical design of multifaceted signage programs for a diverse client base in sectors including healthcare, financial services, energy, and technology. Our projects create impactful branded environments ranging from corporate spaces and retail settings to institutional facilities.
As the Technical Design Director, you will be instrumental in turning conceptual designs into reality. You will have the opportunity to influence design specifications, empower and advance the growth of your team, manage the creation of deliverables, and direct the prototyping and manufacturing processes alongside our vendor partners. The ideal candidate for this role is proactive, has a strong foundation in technical design, and is committed to a hands-on approach in leading projects to successful completion.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate closely with the Program Directors as an integral part of Monigle's Environmental Team, taking on a key technical design leadership role
- Aid in the development of comprehensive Sign Family and design control documents
- Guide Technical Designers on details and specifications, reviewing technical documentation to ensure consistency with the design intent
- Drive selection of appropriate materials and manufacturing processes based on design objectives, cost considerations, and functionality requirements
- Guarantee the excellence of drawings and deliverables; oversee the in-house quality assurance protocol
- Oversee the creation and evaluation of initial samples, signage prototypes, and first articles
- Facilitate and orchestrate collaboration with suppliers, vendors, and external consultants to ensure integrated project execution
- Enhance our technical design proficiency, striving to sustain our status as a leader in providing comprehensive future-facing implementation solutions
- Serve as a mentor to team members, fostering their career growth, cultivating their skills, and supporting them in fulfilling their ambitions. Acknowledge and celebrate their achievements
- Keep designers and program managers apprised of the latest technological advancements in the signage industry
- Identify opportunities to enhance teamwork, internal communication, and the overall dynamics of the team, enacting improvements as needed
- Support and uphold the values, vision, direction, and culture of Monigle as an organization
REQUIREMENTS
- Possess a minimum of 12 years of experience in a technical design capacity, preferably within an architectural or engineering firm, or a sign company
- Educational or professional background in architectural or structural engineering is a plus
- Demonstrate proficiency in a range of design and project management tools, including ACAD, Revit, and SketchUp
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of the sign industry, with expertise in signage manufacturing processes, techniques, materials, finishes, lighting, and fabrication, as well as an understanding of cost considerations
- Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts and specifications clearly to both internal teams and external partners
- Have the capacity to work independently, showcasing a high degree of self-motivation and exceptional organizational skill
- Ability to travel, with the anticipation that it will be 20% of your time or less
Salary range: $100,000 - $120,000 (Denver, Colorado area)
- Final salary will be determined based on seniority, merit, geographic location, education, training and experience, and may vary from the amount listed above.
