As a member of our team, you will serve as a core point of contact for customers, from early capabilities studies through launch. Launch Mission Managers serve as the mission specialists and bridge between the satellite team, launch vehicle team, and industry/government partners. Responsibilities include coordinating all activities from pre-launch analysis to launch site ground and on-orbit operations. Members of the team excel across a breadth of functions including systems engineering, requirements verification, project management, proposal development, and mission management. Our ideal candidate has very high communications skills, hands-on launch site experience, and a service-oriented mindset.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or science with 2+ years of industry experience
- 1+ years of technical project management experience
- Beneficial to have experience working hands-on with hardware or software technical projects
- Must be willing to travel to launch sites, test sites, other industry partner offices, and customer locations as needed.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C.
- Must be eligible for a security clearance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate between York and the LV contractor design teams in support of the development of environmental and flight interface requirements between the SV, LV, Launch Site.
- Coordinate the distribution and configuration management of integrated system analyses inputs/outputs in a diverse set of technical areas.
- Generate the LV statement of work Interface Requirements Document (IRD) and Interface Control Document (ICD) between the Spacecraft and LV.
- Support requirement allocation/flowdown to the LV system from the Spacecraft functional areas, and down to various Spacecraft subsystem design specs from the LV system.
- Negotiate LV interface requirements that affect Spacecraft design with the impacted SV functional team, and develop optimal system-level solutions to any requirement incompatibilities that arise.
- Support development of test plans and test execution for risk reduction, and requirement verification of Spacecraft and LV hardware interfaces.
- Develop IRD/ICD requirement verifications and closure plan that meets York and customer expectations.
- Manage closure plans and verification evidence for each ICD requirement allocated to the LV ICD.
- Coordinate and lead launch campaigns taking place at the Range.
- Plan and execute technical reviews (e.g., working group meetings, chairing technical interface meetings, design reviews, internal review boards) both internally and between York and industry/government partners.
- Generate input to and present launch systems status at monthly and quarterly program status reviews with York’s customer and management.
- Author technical and engineering memos as required.
